April 2011 Partner Update

Chronic disease affects every single one of our lives.  Whether we personally suffer from a condition or are watching a loved one struggle, it is hard to escape the grip that chronic disease holds on us. We all know the personal costs of disease, but the financial costs are enormous.  Three out of four health care dollars are spent treating chronic disease.  This is why the Partnership for Better Health exists, to eliminate the devastation related to these conditions.

Welcome Our New PBH Partner

The Partnership for Better Health is pleased to announce the addition of our newest partner. The ALS Association of Iowa recently joined our efforts to invest in health to save on health care.  We are proud to have this innovation focused organization by our side as we work to implement our strategy that any comprehensive health care reform must include Prevention, Intervention and Innovation.

The mission of the ALS Association of Iowa is to lead the fight to treat and cure ALS through global research and nationwide advocacy while also empowering people with Lou Gehrig’s Disease and their families to live fuller lives by providing them with compassionate care and support. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord.

November 2010 Partner Update

PBH Highlighted in 5 part Television Series

During the November television ratings sweeps period, the Partnership for Better Health and the Triple Solution was featured in a five piece series that ran on KDSM-TV. This was an incredibly exciting opportunity for our PBH partners and advocates to demonstrate the Triple Solution of Prevention, Intervention, and Innovation. The series was patient focused and featured PBH co-chair Chris Atchison, partners Live Healthy America and Meredith Corporation, Dr. Steve Eckstat with Free Clinics of Iowa, and advocate Dave Hubler from the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

In addition to the Triple Solution, the series touched on the high cost of health insurance, work place wellness and the struggle of obesity in Iowa. The 5 part series provided an excellent opportunity to continue to share the Triple Solution messages with a much wider audience. It added a personal touch to the message we work to deliver each and every day. It is encouraging to see television news embracing the need for change in health care and proactively discussing the need for Prevention, Intervention, and Innovation.
